Hillsborough is an exceptional town rich with history and beautiful homes along tree lined streets within six square miles situated 17 miles south of San Francisco and 18 miles north of Palo Alto. Hillsborough’s approximately 11,000 residents are sheltered within grand luxurious estates to comfortable California ranch style homes. The neighborhoods canopied by redwoods, eucalyptus and oak trees vary from hilly with private gated homes, to flat, to woodsy canyons. Some neighborhoods are within walking distance to downtown Burlingame or San Mateo and some neighborhoods to the hills of the west are near Crystal Springs Reservoir with many hiking trails and with panoramic views of San Francisco and the Bay.
In addition to the picturesque setting, the convenience of easy access to commuter routes and SFO and the award winning schools (North, South and West elementary schools and Crocker Middle School) are major draws for families. While noted as one of the wealthiest towns in the United States, the many opportunities to connect through local events like the annual Memorial Day Parade and other holiday festivities around town throughout the year gives Hillsborough a sense of community.
